I walked out of the house today and was so excited to see this beautiful Luna Moth right outside the door! The reason why this is such a big deal for me is because I have been waiting 6 years to see one! Ever since we moved to South Carolina and I heard about the beautiful and mysterious Luna Moth I have been dying to see one! I guess today is my lucky day!

So Beautiful | Bluffton Photographer
Saturday, February 25th, 2012Nine Years of Love | Bluffton Photographer
Wednesday, April 13th, 2011Nine years ago today this teeny tiny little kitten came into my life unexpectedly and stole my heart. At the time, I was teaching Kindergarten in Hawaii and was enjoying having no responsibilities-especially the responsibility of having a pet. One day after school I saw a group of boys walking towards me. One of the boys had something furry in his hand, and me being an animal lover went over to find out what these rascals were up to with this animal. What I saw made me want to cry! The boy had a tiny newly born kitten that looked very close to death cupped in this hands. I quickly asked them where they got the kitten and their guilty glances at each other clued me in to the fact that they had probably snatched him from his mom. Without a thought, I took the baby kitten from the boy, and walked off claiming Kai as my own.
I never imagined caring for a newborn kitten would be very similar to caring for a newborn baby, but it was! Kai was so sick when I first got him that he had a hard time eating from a bottle so he had to be fed kitten formula from a syringe every 3 hours. I woke up in the middle of the night to feed him and snuck him to work with me so I could feed him on my lunch break. It was quite an undertaking and at the time it felt overwhelming because I was very sleep deprived. But now looking back it was so one of the best experiences of my life and totally worth it!
Happy 9th Birthday Kai Kai! You have shown your love for me in so many ways and I will always treasure your snuggles in bed at night, your loud purrs when I rub your ears and our lap time together WHENEVER I sit down!
This is my absolute favorite picture of Kai and his milk moustache! He was always such a milky mess after I fed him!

Cupcakes! | Hilton Head Photographer
Monday, November 29th, 2010I don’t know what it is about cupcakes that makes me so happy! It must be that they remind me of the color pink, birthday parties in spring and licking frosting off my mom’s big spoon when I used to help her bake cupcakes! I just love them and I loved snapping a few photos for Holly at Sweet Carolina Cupcakes the other day. The cupcake shoppe is so dreamy and inviting when you walk in and the air so thick with sweetness!

The Cat in the Hat | Bluffton Photographer
Saturday, August 21st, 2010So, I just had to share a picture of our kitty Coconut who has been confined to wearing this cone around his head for the weekend. Stef and I feel really bad but honestly we can not stop laughing! The whole thing is very entertaining to watch! He keeps bumping into things when he is walking and has been completely exiled by the other cats who won’t go near him and hiss whenever he comes around. I guess the teasing finally got to him because he somehow managed to squeeze his big head out of it this afternoon while we were both out. It took some major teamwork on our part to get him back into it and he was not happy at all! We love you Coconut and it’s for your own good. Just remember, we are not laughing at you, we are laughing with you!
My Hubby | Bluffton Photographer
Wednesday, July 7th, 2010Reasons why I love my husband:
1. He tells me I look beautiful when I wake up in the morning-even though I know I don’t!
2. He carries my ultra girlie looking camera bag around for me-without complaining.
3. He is SO supportive of my dreams, and some of them have been pretty crazy.
4. My car is the envy of all my friends-not because it’s a great car-but because it is always so clean!
5. Let’s be honest-he’s HOT!
6. I know I drive him absolutely nuts sometimes-and he still loves me!
7. We never have to fight over what restuarant to go to because we are both obsessed with sushi! They know us and our “usual” at Kurama’s by heart.
8. I love having him around me, even if I’m doing my own thing editing pictures and he is waching TV, there is something so wonderful about having him near me!
9. He is going to be a great dad someday!
10. He is so sweet and caring.
Today is our 5 year anniversary and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world, because I married him! I love you babe! Let’s break out the champagne and watch our wedding video tonight (just joking…………………..about the video I mean!)
Fireworks! | Bluffton Photographer
Monday, July 5th, 2010Happy Fourth of July America!!! I feel so lucky to live in a wonderful country like America and today was the perfect day to reflect on all that we have to be thankful for. Stef and I went to watch the fireworks tonight and I have always wanted to try to capture them with my camera. I wasn’t sure how the pictures were going to turn out, but I think I did pretty good for my first time! I love fireworks-they are loud and beautiful and I love hearing the crowd cheer and watching the kids dance around with their golden sparklers. The weather was fantastic-cool and still, and being with Stef made the evening even more amazing. It’s our 5 year anniversary this week, so I’m feeling mushy!
Orchids | Bluffton Photographer
Thursday, June 3rd, 2010One reason why I love spring is because I always know it’s around this time that my orchids start blooming! The bright colors and huge blossoms remind me of my days in Hawaii. I started growing orchids while living there, and when we moved I had to leave them all behind. I quickly rescued more when we moved to Bluffton 5 years ago and I have had the same ones ever since. I loved finding the saddest looking almost half dead ones and watching them come back to life when they were given some attention. They are so faithful, every year they come back, and it’s still exciting to watch them grow from tiny buds to huge blossoms.
